faction farming [ solo zaishen challenge ]
Wazaaa ! ever had the problem that you needed faction real quik ? well, most ppl get a trapper to zaishen, and make a team ! this takes about 3 mins, that's just too long ! so I started practising on solo trapping !
I tried making money out of it, by giving lessons, but nobody was interested, so why not put the guide here for free
just to give you an idea of what you will be capable after this guide:
1) armor
-head: traveler’s mask + minor – major - superior vigor ( preferably superior )
-chest: druid’s vest + superior expertise
-legs: druid’s leggings + superior wilderness survival
-gloves: druid’s gloves + minor beast mastery
-feet: druid’s boots
that should give you the following attribute points:
2) weapons
-set 1:
-set 2:
so that's 47 energy on set 1, and 40 energy on set 2. I mostly use weapon set 1, because i need the energy, but It's realy good if you switch to set 2 just before traps go off...that will lenghten their bleeding with 33%, wich is realy good vs their igay !
3) the build :
-dust trap
-barbed trap
-flame trap
-spike trap
-serpents quickness
-energizing wind
-quickening zephyr
-frozen soil
( note: frozen soil can be replaced with whatever you want...like the mesmer skill so you don't get interupted or w/e )
I don’t think that there are any question about the 4 traps…they’re just used to do damage.
and about sq, ew and qz , I’ll give some explanation now :
- ew makes sure that the all skills cost less 15 energy, if that skill has 10 energy standard. Every trap has 10 energy…so normally, only dust trap would cost 10 energy…now here’s the downside: skills recharge 25% slower !
- but because of this we use qz ! Skill recharge 50% faster but cost 30% more energy…
so to give an example: spike trap would cost 10 energy and recharge 20 seconds….with these two skills, it only costs 3 energy and recharges in 15 seconds !
and if that isn’t enough, you also have sq, wich recharges your skill 33% faster ! so now spike trap will recharge in about 8??? seconds. ( I’m not sure )
4) the how to:
click on select mission, now you will see a screen appear. On that screen, choose heroes’ crypt, and as foe you take the iway warriors. Now click on enter battle.
once arrived there, timing is everything !
you immediately go to the little spot, in the corner of the map. ( just run back, turn 90° to the left, and run in that little ''street'' )
start skilling, like this:
-energizing wind
-quickening zephyr
-dust trap
-when dust trap is almost spawned, use serpent quickness
-barbed trap
-flame trap
-spike trap
-barbed trap ( as you will see, dust trap will still be recharging )
-dust trap
-flame trap
-spike trap
....
don't forget to use serpent quikness when it has recharged
DUST TRAP IS THE CORE OF THE DAMAGE ! YOU SHOULD AT LEAST SPAWN IT 3x TIMES ! IF NOT, THEY WON'T DIE !!! SO WHATEVER YOU DO, USE DUST EVERY TIME IT HAS RECHARGED !
the igays will come to the first red dot, and take out their bows...don't even try to use a trap then, you'll be interupted anyway. after that they will come to the second red dot, and use their ugly axe, then u will see:
BOOM BOOM WAHAHAHA BOOOM *psssssssssssssssssssssssss* BOOOOOOOOOOM WAHAHAHA *flames and sand* BWSJB BOOOOOOOM
and now, you should do like this :
but they ain't dead yet ! they will run away ( green line)....and just drop dead on the green dot ( don't you just love bleeding? )
I normally do /taunt then, just to make fun of them
and then: + 20 +20 +20 +20 +25 + 25 = 130 faction in +- 1 minute !
I'm hoping to make a little film of this, though I don't know how, If someone wants to help me, I'd be very happy and you would help a lot of people ( and people will go like: waauw, he's the dude who taught ohcheese how to make a movie of his iway-pwning build ! let's give him 100K !!!)

1 small point - you get the same faction for beating the zaishen solo as you do for beating them with 3 other people. So, why make your faction farmer harder and crucially slower by trying to do it solo? Just bring some henchies in.
Much, much, infinitly much quicker than spending ages creating a trap bomb vs the iway warriors is, just to bring any char you like, the three henchies, and go kill the IW mesmers. They're mesmers, and they don't use distortion - hence they drop very fast. If you're a good monk outhealing them is easy enough, and the trick is to force your henchies to focus fire on them to drop them and not just keep running away from IW. If you're a damage dealer you can either try to drop them all so fast your hench monk can manage, or bring some healing as well as damage yourself. Either way it's not hard, and doesn't take long.

I usually just use IVEX Trapper Premade and henchies (Monk and two others) against the IW team, works pretty well, but once I had it unlocked Frozen Soil speeded things up considerably - you don't have to kill them twice.
What you do is just plant traps wherever, shoot poison arrow and distracting shot every now and then, and they just die. No skill whatsoever necessary.
But yeah, its nice of you to share your build.

I just tryed it, and umm... maybe i should use 16 WS instead of 1 xD.. But they did lose pretty much Hp even tho WS was one O.o
Edit: This seems easyer if you dual trap it.. Cus then the Warriors would go down even faster.. =o
Edit2: It seems that i stopped gaining factions after a few runs =o

of course 2 - 4 man trapping easier, or just make a team with the hench...that's way easier, but the problem about the trapping team is that you have to find one , wich takes some time, and with the hench it's just so boring and takes long...
i'm not saying ''stop trapping in a team''...This build is just for when u don't want a noobtrapper team, or when there just are no teams
@shadow: yeah, after some runs you stop gaining faction, I normally go to zaishen elite then, get a team or take some hench ( with hench I got 5 wins )
and another advantage of solo is the xp ! 400xp per run, use a cheap scroll for double xp = 800xp per run
and you don't stop getting xp after some runs

I like this build alot. Good Job! I've been running a similar build on my Ranger for a while now. My only problem is that I stop gaining faction fairly quickly. Anyone know of a way to counter this? I've tried going and doing a few other missions or even doing the zen elite, and still no go. Anyone have any ideas?

They have a limit per day that you get from killing npc's for faction, i think its about 2k but im not sure. Read the guild wars updates to see what it says, sweet build though

heres what i do:
R/Rt
Equipment: Full druids
This staff acquired from the Fires in the East quest. too my knowledge its the best trapping staff there is when fully modded.
it gives +18 energy when you add a perfect insightful mod which makes it an even 50 energy overall. a +15 energy staff is also nice to have when trapping other locations incase your health starts dropping too low (which will make you lose energy due to the conditions which the energy is given to you)
Attributes:
16 Expertise (12+3+1)
15 Wilderness Survival (12+3)
1 Beast Mastery (minor rune only)
3 Communing
Skills:
Spike Trap
Dust Trap
Barbed Trap
Flame Trap
Viper's Nest
Earthbind
Quickening Zypher
Frozen Soil (not really needed unless your helping people out who can't stand behind you).
This is only intended for ViM trappers on the first arena. its perfectly timed to burn out your energy in the time slot. you don't run out of energy once. energizing winds is therefore unneeded.
Your casting order (youll do this from where you load, dont even move)
Frozen Soil (I only bring this incase people can't stand behind me as i like giving people free faction)
Quickening Zypher
Spike Trap
Dust Trap
Barbed Trap
Flame Trap
Viper's Nest
Spike Trap
Barbed Trap
Dust Trap
Flame Trap
Earthbind
Barbed Trap

Before the last spike trap your energy should be around 2-3, but i don't consider you out of energy because i time the last spike trap so that it goes off just as they are getting off the ground from your other spike traps and earthbind (which keeps them down for 3 seconds). Even if you don't put the last spike trap down, don't worry, they'll get off a bit and then they'll start casting troll unguent but the bleeding and poison will kill them before they cast it.
and yes, this is faster than trap groups simply because you wait 2 seconds to load instead of 10. and when you can do it yourself, a whole group is kind of just overkill and unncessary. i take along people just for fun, although i usually just bring monks since they aren't going to be charging ahead or anything. i occassionaly show other trappers and random people, but usually just monks or solo.
